Local providers offer to help. Look at their listings, photos, badges and reviews, and ask questions first.
Pay through Needsey once you agree. The money is held until the job is confirmed done, then released to the provider.
Sometimes you just need an extra pair of hands. Home and family help on Needsey covers babysitting and nannies, companionship visits for older people, house sitting, errands and personal assistant help. People book it when they're juggling work and kids, when a parent lives alone, or when they're away and want someone keeping an eye on the house. Post what you need, when, and anything the helper should know, and local providers can offer to help.
How long each visit is, how many people need care, the time of day, how often you book and any driving involved.
For babysitting, nannying and companionship for older people, yes: Needsey requires a Ministry of Justice criminal record check before the provider takes jobs. For other help, such as house sitting or errands, look for the badge on the listing or ask. A check only shows convictions on record, so meet first and check references too.
Yes. Many people arrange visits and errands for a parent who lives on their own. Include their routine and an emergency contact in the job.
Yes. After the first job you can book the same provider again, once or on a regular schedule. They accept each booking and you pay per job.
You pay through Needsey once you and a provider have agreed the job. Nothing is charged before then. The money is held until the job is confirmed done: by you, or automatically if you haven't confirmed or pressed Not done yet within 5 days of the provider marking it finished. It is released to the provider 24 hours after that, unless a dispute is raised in that time.
Every provider completes an ID check before taking jobs. Some work needs more: a Ministry of Justice criminal record check for babysitting, companionship for older people and school tutoring, and a licence and insurance for electrical, plumbing, gas and building work. Listings show badges for the checks a provider has passed. For other work that needs a licence, ask the provider for theirs.
If the provider marks the job finished and it isn't, press Not done yet and say what's missing. Once a job is confirmed done, you can raise a dispute from the job's chat during the 24 hours before the payment is released, with photos or other evidence. A real person at Needsey reviews it and decides whether the payment goes to the provider or back to you. This doesn't take away your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
