Say what you need, where and when. It takes a couple of minutes and costs nothing.
Local providers offer to help. Look at their listings, photos, badges and reviews, and ask questions first.
Pay through Needsey once you agree. The money is held until the job is confirmed done, then released to the provider.
Regular company can make a real difference for an older person living on their own. Local companions on Needsey visit for a cuppa and a chat, go for walks, help with shopping or appointments, and keep family updated. Family who live in another city or overseas can arrange visits too. Providers in this category must supply a Ministry of Justice criminal record check before they take jobs. Post what would help, how often, and a little about the person.
How long each visit is, how often, the time of day and any driving to appointments or shops.
Yes. Needsey requires a Ministry of Justice criminal record check before providers in this category take jobs. A check only shows convictions on record, so meet first and check references.
No. Companionship is social visits and everyday help. Personal or medical care is a different service. Talk to the person's doctor if they need care support.
Yes, as long as you can pay by card. You post the job, choose a companion and pay from wherever you are, and keep in touch with them in the chat.
Yes. After the first visit you can book the same provider again, once or on a regular schedule. They accept each booking and you pay per visit.
You pay through Needsey once you and a provider have agreed the job. Nothing is charged before then. The money is held until the job is confirmed done: by you, or automatically if you haven't confirmed or pressed Not done yet within 5 days of the provider marking it finished. It is released to the provider 24 hours after that, unless a dispute is raised in that time.
Every provider completes an ID check before taking jobs. Some work needs more: a Ministry of Justice criminal record check for babysitting, companionship for older people and school tutoring, and a licence and insurance for electrical, plumbing, gas and building work. Listings show badges for the checks a provider has passed. For other work that needs a licence, ask the provider for theirs.
If the provider marks the job finished and it isn't, press Not done yet and say what's missing. Once a job is confirmed done, you can raise a dispute from the job's chat during the 24 hours before the payment is released, with photos or other evidence. A real person at Needsey reviews it and decides whether the payment goes to the provider or back to you. This doesn't take away your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
