Say what you need, where and when. It takes a couple of minutes and costs nothing.
Local providers offer to help. Look at their listings, photos, badges and reviews, and ask questions first.
Pay through Needsey once you agree. The money is held until the job is confirmed done, then released to the provider.
A solid fence keeps kids and dogs in, gives you privacy and lifts the look of a section. Local fencers on Needsey build new timber and paling fences, fix storm damage, replace rotten posts, and hang or repair gates. Post the length, height and style you want, with photos of the boundary, and local providers can offer to visit or quote. If it's a boundary fence, talk with your neighbour first: the Fencing Act sets out how costs are usually shared.
Length, height, materials, the ground (slopes, rock, roots), removing the old fence and gates or extras.
Under the Fencing Act 1978, neighbours usually share the cost of an adequate boundary fence. Talk to your neighbour first; there is a formal notice process if you can't agree.
Most fences up to 2.5 metres high don't need building consent. Pool fences have their own rules. Check with your council if you're unsure.
A typical residential fence takes a few days, depending on length, ground and weather.
You pay through Needsey once you and a provider have agreed the job. Nothing is charged before then. The money is held until the job is confirmed done: by you, or automatically if you haven't confirmed or pressed Not done yet within 5 days of the provider marking it finished. It is released to the provider 24 hours after that, unless a dispute is raised in that time.
Every provider completes an ID check before taking jobs. Some work needs more: a Ministry of Justice criminal record check for babysitting, companionship for older people and school tutoring, and a licence and insurance for electrical, plumbing, gas and building work. Listings show badges for the checks a provider has passed. For other work that needs a licence, ask the provider for theirs.
If the provider marks the job finished and it isn't, press Not done yet and say what's missing. Once a job is confirmed done, you can raise a dispute from the job's chat during the 24 hours before the payment is released, with photos or other evidence. A real person at Needsey reviews it and decides whether the payment goes to the provider or back to you. This doesn't take away your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
